The article is part of the name. Everything else follows from that.
- The Montessori Collective
- Full name. The definite article is part of the name and is capitalised, always. Use in full on first mention in any document.
- the Collective
- Short form after first mention. Lower-case article, capital C. Never an acronym.
- RoseBank Foundation
- The legal entity — one word, internal capital B. Named for the Rose Banks cottage, which is two words in the historical reference. Both spellings are correct in their own context.
- The Mark
- Capital M when referring to the certification itself. Lower case for any other mark.
- member school
- Lower case. Not “partner”, “affiliate”, “branch” or “franchise” — none of those describe the relationship.
- directress
- The term used throughout, consistent with AMI and IMC usage. “Guide” is acceptable in parent-facing copy.
Copy is set in British spelling, with Indian conventions in place names and age ranges. The Collective is described as being convened or formed, not launched.
Three beads, in a fixed order: green, blue, red.
The mark is the three beads and the wordmark together. The beads are drawn as full circles — the only curve in the identity — and their order never changes. There is no monogram, no icon, and no alternative symbol.
Clear space
Keep the height of one bead clear on all four sides. Nothing enters it — no rules, no image edges, no other logo.
Minimum size
120 px wide on screen, 30 mm in print. Below that, use the beads alone beside a text line carrying the name.
Do not
Do not recolour the beads, reorder them, rotate the lockup, add a shadow or outline, place it on a busy photograph, or set it inside a box.
Two grounds, three accents. Blue appears as a full ground once.
There are no drop shadows, gradients, glass or blur anywhere in the system. Depth comes from a change of surface colour and a 1 px line. Corners are square everywhere; the circle is reserved for the beads.
Newsreader for display, Archivo for everything else.
Display and headings A prepared environment, applied to a page.
Quotations only The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.
Body copy Both faces are open-licence and free to install. Body copy sits between 15 and 18 px at a line height of 1.65 to 1.7.
Eyebrows and labels Uppercase is reserved for eyebrows, meta labels and buttons
A claim, then its limit.
Plain, declarative, slightly institutional. Sentences are short and load-bearing. Nothing is sold. The Collective states what it does and what it will not do, and the second sentence usually constrains the first.
Parents can observe the classroom their child is in. So can we, twice a year, unannounced.
Do
Use “we” for the Collective and “you” only where the reader is addressed directly. Keep numbers small and exact. Use Montessori terms as Montessori uses them — directress, prepared environment, work, Children’s House.
Do not
No exclamation marks, no rhetorical questions, no emoji. No superlatives the Collective cannot verify. No headline over ten words. Do not capitalise for emphasis.
Ask before you draw anything new.
The files above may be reproduced as they are, in reporting or in event material, without asking. Anything that alters the lockup, redraws the beads, or applies the Mark to a surface needs the Collective’s agreement first — the Mark is a certification, and a school that has not been observed cannot display it.
