An accessible site, honestly assessed.

Our commitment

The Montessori Collective’s public presence should be usable by every parent, every educator, and every advisor who comes to it — including those who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or who need larger text or higher contrast. We have built this site with that in mind and intend to keep improving.

What we’ve done

• Semantic HTML throughout, with proper heading levels and landmarks.
• Text contrast checked against WCAG 2.1 AA on the principal text and background colours.
• Focus styles visible on all interactive elements.
• Forms with proper labels and error states.
• Decorative imagery marked as aria-hidden; meaningful imagery would carry alt text.
• Responsive layout that reflows comfortably down to small mobile widths.
• No reliance on hover-only interaction for navigation; keyboard navigation supported on the nav menu and forms.

Known limitations

• This is a prototype site. Some elements — for example chip filters on the directory — are not yet wired to live filtering and behave as visual mock-ups.
• We have not yet run an end-to-end audit with a screen-reader user. Once the site is live and the form back-ends are wired, an external accessibility review is planned.
